McClaren Falls Park

Just a short drive from the Lazy Tramper, you'll find McClarens Falls Park - 170 hectares of beautiful park land, a lake and a mighty river.

The park provides stunning views, excellent swimming holes and picnic spots, BBQ areas, wide open spaces and great walking tracks.

The lake also offers year round trout fishing [permit required].

Marshall's Animal Park is also accessed through the park and is a great place to take little ones.

For just 26 days each year, the Wairoa River (that runs through McClaren Falls Park) is also the spot of some of New Zealand's most exciting white-water rafting.
